This delightful story of "a woman of drama" and her dog is the result of adventures shared during the 1960s and 1970s on their journey through England and America when Shirley was involved in Hereford Training College and Highline Community College as head of the Drama Dept. The life and times of Lou, the poodle named Jean-Louis-for-Barrault, belong so obviously to a period of living that used to be and is now quite remote. However, the age-old joys and sorrows of human companionships remain constant.
